October brings the reds back into Port Phillip Bay.
Most adult snapper begin arriving in the Bay during October, with November often producing peak activity on the main grounds. The main fishing window runs through spring into early summer, so the best dates fill quickly.
Able's experienced crew watches the weather, tides and recent activity to plan each session. We cannot promise a catch, but we can put you on a properly equipped boat with local knowledge and a clear focus on snapper.

Join a shared trip or reserve the Bacardi.
Shared five-hour trips leave from Gem Pier, Williamstown. Private pricing reserves the larger Bacardi for your group.

Shared trips require a minimum of six passengers. Add up to five passengers to a private Bacardi charter for $120 each, to a maximum of 20 fishing passengers.

When is snapper season in Melbourne?
Port Phillip Bay's main snapper run builds through spring. Most snapper fishing occurs from September to December, with adult fish arriving in strong numbers during October and activity often peaking around November. Conditions and fish movement change from day to day, so contact us for the best available dates.
Where do your snapper charters depart from?
Our larger Bacardi snapper charters depart from Gem Pier in Williamstown. Able also operates Bacardi 151, a smaller, faster fishing-only boat from Wyndham Harbour at Werribee South.
Are rods, bait and tackle supplied?
Yes. Quality rods, reels, bait and tackle are supplied, along with an experienced skipper and crew. The Bacardi also has private toilet facilities onboard.
Can beginners join a snapper charter?
Absolutely. Shared charters suit first-timers as well as regular anglers. The crew can help you get set up and explain the fishing method used on the day.
Can I book a private snapper charter?
Yes. Private Bacardi charters from Williamstown start at $2,200 for four hours and $2,300 for five hours for up to 15 passengers. Up to five additional fishing passengers may be added at $120 each.
Is catching a snapper guaranteed?
No fishing charter can guarantee a catch. The skipper plans around the season, weather and current conditions to give the group the best available opportunity, but fish remain wild and conditions can change.
